Fostering Chemistry Enthusiasm
& Academic Excellence Since 1964

Kapnayan is triennial, week-long nationwide Chemistry fair attracting hundreds of participants nationwide, fostering chemistry enthusiasm and awareness among the youth. It serves as a platform for promoting chemistry awareness, critical thinking, creative expression, and scientific excellence among the youth.

CHEM 18.1 INTERLAB is an annual quiz contest organized by the UPLB Chemical Society, held every first semester of the academic year. It is open to students currently enrolled in CHEM 18.1 (University Chemistry Laboratory), and is designed to foster enthusiasm and deeper engagement with the subject of Chemistry.

Participants compete through a written elimination round, a hands-on laboratory round, and additional activities that test their teamwork, knowledge, and laboratory skills.

The Chemistry Quiz Contest is a long-standing annual tradition of the UPLB Chemical Society, held every second semester of the academic year. Open to all bona fide undergraduate students of the university, the contest challenges participants across core chemistry disciplines — Analytical, Organic, Biochemistry, Physical, and Inorganic Chemistry.

Each team consists of three to five members, with three main players and up to two alternates. The quiz proper consists of three rounds: Easy, Average, and Final Five — each designed to test both knowledge and strategy in a competitive yet educational setting.

Beyond our flagship competitions and academic programs, the UPLB Chemical Society actively organizes and participates in a variety of events that foster community, creativity, and collaboration. These miscellaneous events are designed to bring students together, support well-being, and encourage holistic growth.

From Book Fairs and Open Tambayans to Career Orientations, Anniversary Celebrations, and Sports Fests, these initiatives allow ChemSoc members and the broader student community to connect, unwind, and celebrate shared interests both within and beyond the sciences.
